The Hayward Civic Club Annual Meeting on Monday, August 24th (held at 7:00pm outdoors on the Caddyshak patio, weather permitting) will involve the election to fill spots on the current board, with 1 open seat and 2 incumbents running for re-election. Members are encouraged to attend, and this is particularly important this year because new By-Laws will be voted on, and the attendance of approximately 32 members is required for a quorum.

Agenda for the Meeting

– Update from President Konat

– Board Election

– Voice vote on the By-Laws

Below is the list of candidates with biographies. Members, if you are not capable of attending the annual meeting on the 24th, you can cast a ballot by stopping in at the Pro Shop.

Members and Guests of Hayward Golf Club,

The Board of Directors and Staff would like to make everyone aware that an employee of the grounds crew has tested positive for COVID-19.  This individual has not been working with the grounds crew for the last 11 days.

The course is requiring all of the grounds crew staff to be tested, and those grounds employees that worked closely with the individual are self-quarantining until receiving test results.

At this point, we feel good about the procedures we have in place to keep workers home if not feeling well, as well as to follow CDC guidelines for how to handle such situations.  Pro Shop and Caddyshak staff are wearing masks while indoors, and we continue to ask that all members and guests do the same while inside the clubhouse.

This is obviously an unusual circumstance for everyone, and we will do our best to continue to be as transparent and forthcoming as we possibly can.

We’re putting out one final push for any members who might be interested in running for our Board of Directors. This year there is 1 open seat, along with 2 incumbents seeking re-election. The Board meets 10 to 11 times a year, and no board member shall miss more than three meetings yearly and no more than two meetings in a row. There is a conference call-in system for those not able to be physically present.

The deadline to apply as a candidate is this Friday morning, August 14th. If you are an interested member, or know a member who might be, contact the Pro Shop, or submit a short bio and resume to the Pro Shop.

Board of Directors Openings

Also, we’re looking for some members to step forward and be considered for filling positions on the Hayward Civic Club Board of Directors. This year there is 1 open seat, along with 2 incumbents seeking re-election.

Brief Statement About HGC’s Mask Policy

Finally, in accordance with the masking order by Wisconsin’s governor, Hayward Golf Club is now requesting that guests and members wear masks while inside the Pro Shop and the clubhouse whenever possible (masks not required while seated for eating and drinking).

The Caddyshak’s outdoor patio will continue to be a great option for enjoying a meal, snack, or drink!

The Couples Club Championship has been moved to Sunday, August 23rd. As such, there’s still time to sign-up! Tee times will be available between 12pm and 1pm. Other pertinent details found HERE remain the same.

A couple of slots also remain open for the Hayward Civic Club Benefit this coming Sunday, August 2nd. So if you’re interested in this great event, contact the Pro Shop at (715) 634-2760.  Full information can be found at THIS LINK.  Additionally, we’re also looking for 1 – 2 volunteers to help with the putting contest, act as a hole-in-one witness, and just generally help with the flow of the event to make sure everything runs efficiently!  Please contact the Pro Shop if you’re available to assist.

We also put together a video highlighting some of what the Caddyshak Bar & Grill has to offer!  Check it out!

Finally, congratulations to our Hayward Ladies Interclub team for their victory over Spooner!

With August approaching, it’s time to start thinking about the Women’s and Men’s Club Championships! Both will be two-day events this year, and it’s going to be a full Championship Weekend, with both tournaments taking place on Saturday, August 15th, and Sunday, August 16th.

The Women’s Club Championship will be open to all female members of Hayward Golf Club, including Social Members. The entry fee is $30 per player for food, prizes, and trophy.

The Men’s Club Championship will be open to all male members of Hayward Golf Club, including Social Members. On Saturday, you can play golf with whichever other golfers you’d like. You will already be flighted, but you can build your own foursome with anybody (or have Pro Shop staff help put you into a group if you’d prefer). Pairings for Sunday will be posted on Saturday evening based on the Saturday round’s results.

We will have a Senior Division for golfers ages 62 and over with a separate Senior Club Champion. So whatever level of skill you’re at, whatever your handicap might be, or which tee box you like to play from, there will be a flight for you to be competitive in! Entry fee is $45, which includes food, prizes, and trophy.

Tee times for both events will run between 11am and 1:30pm on Saturday, and 8:30am through 11am on Sunday.

Call the Pro Shop at (715) 634-2760 to sign up for either of these terrific events!

Also, if you’ve played our course within the last couple of weeks, you will already be aware of the new GPS system that’s been installed on our fleet of golf carts; for those of you who haven’t, here’s a quick video overview of the system and some of its features!

The Caddyshak Bar & Grill is running a series of specials on select days this week:

Tuesday, July 21st
– Mashed Potatoes with Meatballs and Gravy $9.00

Wednesday, July 22nd
– Chicken Salad on a Lettuce Leaf with Fruit $9.00

Friday, July 24th
– Fish and Butterfly Shrimp with French Fries $10.00

The Caddyshak is also fully equipped to handle private parties and events (up to 100 people), including usage of our patio area. Call (715) 634-2460 if you’re looking for the right venue!

Finally, just a reminder that the Couples Club Championship — scheduled for Sunday, July 26th — still has some available openings. Full details can be found HERE. If you’re interested in joining this fun event, contact the Pro Shop!

We want to thank everybody who took part in this past weekend’s Summer Classic here at HGC!  It really has become one of our centerpiece events for the Club, and we hope all had a terrific time.

Below are the key results for the various flights, as well as the skins game.  If you are among this select group, you can stop in the Pro Shop (or contact us there) to receive your prizes.  Congratulations to everyone!

An annual tradition, our Couples Club Championship will be held on Sunday, July 26th, with tee times starting at 12:00pm. Open to the membership, this is a great event for couples to have a fun round of golf together on the course. The Championship will be using the notorious Chapman alternate shot format to provide a little bit of extra excitement!

Entry per couple is $35, which includes prizes, trophies, and two drink tees which will be redeemable in the Caddyshak for one drink each.

Last year’s champs John & Ann Smereczniak (Net) and Quentin & Liz Johnson (Gross) will be looking to defend their titles!

Call the Pro Shop at (715) 634-2760 to sign up!

Civic Club Benefit Reminder

We again wanted to bring the Civic Club Benefit golf tournament — on Sunday, August 2nd — to everybody’s attention. Just recently, the fruits of last year’s event arrived at HGC in the form of the new GPS system for our golf carts, and this year’s proceeds will similarly go towards an assortment of on-course/facility improvement projects in 2021.

This is a great event to help give back to the Club and put it in a position to continue to deliver an excellent experience for members and guests in years to come!  A variety of prizes will also be on the line to win, including a raffle for a FREE MEMBERSHIP in 2021 that every participant in the event will be part of!

Additional details are available HERE and in the flyer below.

The installation of our new double-row irrigation system is currently ahead of schedule, with a projected 4 to 5 weeks remaining for the project. In its current phase, we’re in the process of going hole-by-hole to finish the installation.

A side effect of this is that approximately every two days, one of our 18 holes will be closed for this installation. In order to continue to provide an 18-hole experience during this process, we’ve turned Hole 15 — usually a Par 5 — into two separate, temporary holes: a 123-yard Par 3 and a 315-yard Par 4. During weekends, the course will revert back to its regular set-up.

Assuming weather cooperates, we should be completely back to our normal 18-hole configuration by mid August!

• TaylorMade M6 Driver Regular Flex — $229.99 (normally $249.99)
• TaylorMade M5 3-Wood Stiff Flex — $229.99 (normally $249.99)
• TaylorMade M6 3-Wood Regular Flex — $159.99 (normally $179.99)
• TaylorMade M6 3 Hybrid Stiff Flex — $129.99 (normally $149.99)
• Titleist 917F 3-Wood Stiff Flex — $89.99

Stop in the Pro Shop before they’re gone, or contact us with any questions!

The Caddyshak is continuing to offer breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 12pm. Dine inside or outside on our beautiful patio! The breakfast menu can be found HERE.
